Man is made in such a way that his dependence should be in God. In order to walk with God, man must be aligned to God through prayer, studying the word of God, and most importantly, listening to the Holy Spirit.
For us to walk in our God-ordained purpose, we need to understand the times and seasons of our lives. Sometimes, we look for too long on the closed doors and elapsed seasons, even when God is ushering us into a new season.
When you have no understanding of the time and season you are in, you will miss opportunities, or you will seize opportunities when instead you should be building capacity for the next level.
Ecclesiastes 3:1. To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:
Sometimes, the success of a season depends on the success of the previous one. There’s a time to plant and there’s harvest time. If you didn’t plant, then you can’t harvest. Some seasons depend on others.
Genesis 8:22. While the earth remains, seedtime and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, and day and night shall not cease.
1 Chronicles 12:32. Of the children of Issachar, men who had understanding of the times, to know what Israel ought to do, their heads were two hundred; and all their brothers were at their commandment.
The Sons of Issachar had understanding of the times, and always knew what Israel needed to do. It takes wisdom and guidance by the Spirit of God.
The Bible says in verse 23 of the same chapter, that the sons of Issachar where among the men of war who came to David at Hebron to turn Saul’s kingship to David, as the Lord has said. They knew it was time for the Kingdom to be turned to David.
Let Us Pray
Isaiah 43:18-19. Forget what happened in the past, and do not dwell on events from long ago. I am going to do something new. It is already happening. Don’t you recognize it? I will clear a way in the desert. I will make rivers on dry land.
Dear Lord, You are gracious, long-suffering and compassionate. You are the Rock. Your work is perfect, for all Your ways are just.
You are a God of truth and without iniquity. How just and upright are You! Your love is wonderful.
You give to the beast its food, and to the young ravens which cry. You do not delight in the strength of the horse. You do not take pleasure in the legs of a man, but in them that fear You, and in those that hope in Your mercy.
Lord I lift up my eyes to you. Give me understanding of the times and seasons of my life.
Bless me with the wisdom to know what I ought to do in each season. For unto You belong wisdom and counsel, as it is written that the Holy Spirit is a Spirit of wisdom and counsel.
Lord, I pray that You help me to stay aligned with You. Help me to feed my spirit with Your Word continually until Christ is formed in me.
Give me grace to pray until I know your will for my life. Awaken me, oh Lord. Help me not to miss my seasons in the name of Jesus Christ.
Let me be sensitive to my seasons. Let me move away from every closed door and elapsed season. Open my eyes to see the beauty of the season You are ushering me into. In the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.
Psalm 147:10-11. His delight is not in the strength of the horse, nor his pleasure in the legs of a man, but the Lord takes pleasure in those who fear him, in those who hope in his steadfast love.
