Prayer To Be Like Jesus

Heavenly and Gracious Father, I come before you today with a humble and contrite heart, seeking to be more like Jesus, your Son. In him, I see the perfect example of what it means to love, serve, and follow you.

He lived as a human and walked the earth for 33 years. He was flesh and blood, just like me. The Bible says He was tempted in all things just as I am, yet He was without sin.

My God, grant me the grace to endure whatever trials and hardships I face, with patience and faith, as Jesus did. Help me to trust in your plan, and to find joy, peace and happiness in all circumstances.

Matthew 5:44-45 But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you, that you may be sons of your Father in heaven; for He makes His sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust.

Galatians 2:20 I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. 

Dealing With Others, Like Jesus Did

My God, it can be so difficult dealing with some people. I tend to take things personal, and I end up holding grudges against people. But my God, I want to be like Jesus. Renew my heart and mind. Give me a heart like Jesus. Help me to be patient and loving towards others.

Bless me with the strength and courage to follow in his footsteps and to imitate his example in my own daily life. Help me to seek your will above all else, and to put others before myself, as Jesus did.

Your word says to do good to those who hate me, but it is so hard Lord. I cannot do it by myself. Many times, my heart is just not like Jesus’s. I don’t respond to situations the way Jesus would. Even when I know the right thing to do, I won’t do it.

Jeremiah 17:14 Heal me, LORD, and I will be healed; save me and I will be saved, for you are the one I praise.

Romans 12:2: Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.

Prayer For Wisdom

I pray that you would give me the wisdom and discernment to make decisions that honor and glorify you, as Jesus did. Help me to speak and act with truth and love, and to be a light in the world, just as he was.

Matthew 5:48: Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect.

Overcoming All Situations

When I find myself in disappointing, offensive situations, help me to understand that the situations are coming against the Christ who is in me.

When I am mistreated, insulted or persecuted, help me to know that it is Christ in me that is being mistreated, insulted and persecuted.

Give me a heart that truly reflects the nature of Christ. Create in me a clean heart. Renew within me a steadfast spirit. May the Holy Spirit help me and regenerate me. In the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.

Colossians 3:13: Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you.

Philippians 2:5: In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus: Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage.
