Prayer Against Alcoholism: Asking God for Freedom and Healing
Dear Jesus, I come before You as a beloved child of God, trusting in Your mercy, power, and authority. I pray for deliverance from alcohol addiction and ask You to break every stronghold that has taken hold of my life.
Lord, guard me against temptation and every influence that draws me back toward alcohol. In the name of Jesus, free me from alcohol’s control, strengthen me when I feel powerless, and provide a way of escape when cravings arise.
Break every chain that keeps me bound. Heal the pain beneath my addiction, renew my troubled mind, and lead me to wise counsel, compassionate support, and effective treatment. Help me take the next faithful step toward lasting recovery, trusting that a new life is possible in Christ.
2 Corinthians 5:17 (NKJV) “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.”
Prayer for Strength Against Alcohol Temptation
Lord, I desire Your will and freedom in my life. Purify my heart, renew my mind, and strengthen me to turn away from alcohol. As I seek deliverance from addiction, help me recognize the people, places, emotions, and situations that lead me into temptation.
You, O God, are faithful. When temptation comes, remind me that I do not face it alone. Provide a way of escape, give me the courage to ask for help, and surround me with wise counselors and compassionate people who will support my recovery.
Remove my desire for anything that controls me or separates me from You. Teach me to seek what is holy, life-giving, and pleasing in Your sight. I do not want to remain enslaved to alcohol; I desire to live as a faithful servant of Jesus Christ. Fill me with Your Holy Spirit and lead me one faithful step at a time toward freedom, healing, and a renewed life.
1 Corinthians 10:13 (NKJV) “No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it.”

A Plea for Deliverance and Freedom
Lord, I cry out to You for deliverance from alcohol addiction. Open doors to rehabilitation, treatment, and recovery, making a way where there seems to be no way. Let every step I take toward healing be accompanied by Your presence. Remind me that I am not alone in this struggle.
Transform the parts of my life damaged by alcohol into a testimony of Your grace and redemption. As I continue seeking freedom from alcoholism through prayer, use my story to bring hope to others who struggle. Help me trust that change is possible and that, with Your guidance and the right support, I can continue moving toward recovery.
Psalm 34:17-18 The righteous cry out, and the Lord hears,
And delivers them out of all their troubles.
The Lord is near to those who have a broken heart,
And saves such as have a contrite spirit.
Prayer for Lasting Freedom and Recovery
Heavenly Father, in this time of trouble, I call upon You. Break every pattern that keeps me bound to alcohol, and help me surrender my thoughts, choices, and desires to You. Give me courage to seek treatment, accept support, and continue moving forward even when recovery feels difficult.
Heal the wounds that contribute to addiction and restore the relationships that alcohol has damaged. Fill me with Your Holy Spirit and teach me to live with wisdom, self-control, and hope. I trust You to remain with me through every step of recovery. In the name of Jesus Christ, I pray, Amen.

I was googling prayers for alcoholism and read your prayer. From just a few days ago. My 29 year old daughter flew to Florida from the Midwest and is very intoxicated in her Air B&B. She has to be able to make it on her early flight in the morning. She is not responding to my, her sister’s and oldest brother’s phone calls. She is suffering from a broken heart.
God is faithful to our children.

My heart aches for you and even more so your Heavenly Father. He sees you right where you’re at and loves you. I have struggled with alcohol severely in the past. “Do not get drunk with wine, for that is wickedness (corruption, stupidity), but be filled with the [Holy] Spirit and constantly guided by Him.” I have found that it’s hard to want to drink while listening to Praise & worship music, reading God’s Word and talking to him like you would your best friend sitting there with you. (all filling you with His spirit). “Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.” James 4:7 God has good plans for you and me Samuel.
1 Peter 5:8 “Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour”. Call on God. He will help you and I will pray for you.

These prayers are so what I need to say. My husband is an alcoholic and we are separated right now.
Please pray for my younger son who is addicted to drinking and smoking so he may stop it.
Also pray for my elder son who had a breakup he may find a partner who would serve the lord and support him in his ministry, he is worship leader.

all this is well and good, praying that is. however God still requires the addicted person to walk by faith and not by sight. One day at a time there is a choice not to drink again and its upon this choice that becomes a sober persons heart desire. and that is not to drink or use again. when our desires line up with Gods desires only then can there be peace within oneself.

Please pray for my son Jerry who is struggling with alcohol addiction since he was a teenager and is now showing signs of the bad affects of alcoholism in his body at such a young age of 33. Father God please break that ugly spirit of alcoholism and free him from craving it. Heal his body Lord, restore his health and Father God please help him recognize that the alcohol is destroying his organs, his body, your temple Lord. My Husband Anthony has been struggling with alcoholism and cigarettes for so very very long, I’m asking God and for your prayers with me to help save my Husband life.
Please pray with me my only daughter drinks alcohol and smokes. She also suffers from depression. She once went to a mental clinic trying to heal from this. Only God can dig deep down and uproot all of this. She can’t even clean her room or make her bed_ it’s all chaotic. May the Lord God deliver my child from this. She has become dependent on alcohol and smoking.
