Standing in the Gap for My Children
Almighty God, thank You for the privilege of being a mother. Thank you for allowing me the opportunity to stand in the gap for my children. You promised, Father God, that once I raise my children with the Fear of the Lord, they will walk upright. Thank You for Your Word, for I know once I speak it back to You, You are faithful and just, to perform it.
I declare that everyone within my household will serve You and that I will proclaim Your promises every minute of every day. I delight in You, Abba Father, and will walk honoring and glorifying You in all that I do.
Haggai 2:9 – ‘The glory of this latter temple shall be greater than the former,’ says the Lord of hosts. ‘And in this place, I will give peace,’ says the Lord of hosts.”
A Parent’s Heartfelt Cry
Lord, as a parent, my heart is deeply connected to my children. I have felt their joys, wept over their sorrows, and celebrated their triumphs. Yet, in this vast universe, they are like young lambs, often naive and easily swayed. I understand that my ability to protect and guide them has its limitations. And so, I come before You, the Eternal Shepherd, seeking Your divine intervention over their lives.
The challenges that confront them in this world are multifaceted. From societal pressures to internal struggles, from doubts about their worth to questions about their purpose, the battles they face are relentless. But You, O Lord, are mightier than any challenge. As I stand in the gap for my children, I ask that You envelop them with Your love, wisdom, protection, and guidance.
Ezekiel 22:30 I looked for someone among them who would build up the wall and stand before me in the gap on behalf of the land so I would not have to destroy it, but I found no one.
Isaiah 54:13 All your children will be taught by the LORD, and great will be their peace.
Protection From Harmful Influences
Father, in a world saturated with voices clamoring for attention, I pray that my children will be discerning. Shield them from influences that seek to mislead or harm.
Whether it’s negative peer pressure, deceptive media content, or harmful ideologies, I pray that they won’t be ensnared. May their hearts be sensitive to Your voice, easily distinguishing between truth and falsehood.
Surround them with individuals who will be positive role models and mentors. Instill within them a hunger for righteousness and a desire for purity. As they navigate life’s complexities, let them be anchored in Your Word and grounded in Your love.
Psalm 119:9-10 How can a young person stay on the path of purity? By living according to your word. I seek you with all my heart; do not let me stray from your commands.
1 Corinthians 15:33: Do not be misled: ‘Bad company corrupts good character.’
Strengthening Their Faith Amidst Doubts
God of all wisdom, as my children grow and are exposed to a plethora of ideas and worldviews, there may come times of doubt and questioning. I pray that these moments will not weaken them but rather strengthen their relationship with You.
May they seek answers in the right places, turning to You and godly counsel when faced with uncertainties.
Grant them experiences and encounters that solidify their belief in You. May their faith not just be a legacy from their parents, but a personal, living relationship with their Savior. Let them be like trees planted by streams of water, rooted deeply in faith and bearing fruit in every season.
Jeremiah 17:7-8 But blessed is the one who trusts in the LORD, whose confidence is in him. They will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream. It does not fear when heat comes; its leaves are always green. It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit.
1 Peter 1:7 These trials will show that your faith is genuine. It is being tested as fire tests and purifies gold—though your faith is far more precious than mere gold. So when your faith remains strong through many trials, it will bring you much praise and glory and honor on the day when Jesus Christ is revealed to the whole world.
Guiding Their Purpose and Destiny
Everlasting Father, each of my children is wonderfully unique, fashioned by Your hands with purpose and destiny. Ignite within them a passion to discover and pursue Your plan for their lives.
In a world that often dictates success by its standards, let them find true success and fulfillment in fulfilling Your will.
May they understand that they are not accidents or mere products of chance, but intentional creations designed for Your glory. Guide their steps, open doors of opportunity, and align their hearts with Your desires.
As they journey through life, let every decision, every relationship, and every endeavor be in alignment with Your perfect will for them.
Proverbs 3:5-6 Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.
Ephesians 2:10 For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.
Prayer: Standing On God’s Promises
My children, Lord, oh, my children, they seem to be taking a different path. But I will continue to stand on Your promises which states: “Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it” (Proverbs 22:6) and “Children are a heritage from the Lord, the fruit of the womb is a reward” (Psalm 127:3).
Psalm 5:12 – For You, O Lord, will bless the righteous; with favor, You will surround him as with a shield.
Proverbs 31:28 – Her children rise up and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her.
Turn my children back to you, Lord
While seeing them turn aside from You is difficult, I trust You completely that Your Word will not return to You void but it will accomplish what You sent it to do.
I continue to seek your wisdom and guidance as I stand in the gap for my children.
Holy Spirit, help me, reveal to me what I need to know and do. Teach me more and more each day how to stand firm on Your promises. SO BE IT… Amen and Amen!
Isaiah 55:11- So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth; it shall not return to Me void, but it shall accomplish what I please, and it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.
Prayer: Reaching out for your lost children
As a loving, caring parent, I am reaching out to you, oh Lord, to save my children. Lord, they have lost their way. But they shall be saved at the sound of your great name.
Save them from any negative company, and bring them back to Christ. Help them to be a blessing in the lives of those who surround them. Help them to understand and spread your word. Bring them back to you, oh Loving father. In Jesus’ most precious name, AMEN!!
