Life can be so hard at times. Unfair things can happen. Family can abandon us. Colleagues at work can reject us or look down on us. And we end up wanting to give up on our Maker.

The Lord Jesus did not promise us a life free from hardships, but He promised to be with us through it all. He said in the world we will have trouble, but we should be of good cheer because He has overcome the world. Everyone who wants to follow Jesus will be persecuted, rejected and ridiculed.

2 Timothy 3:12 Yes, and everyone who wants to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will suffer persecution.

John 16:33 I have told you these things, so that in Me you may have peace and confidence. In the world you have tribulation and trials and distress and frustration; but be of good cheer! For I have overcome the world.

Hebrews 13:5 Let your conduct be without covetousness; be content with such things as you have. For He Himself has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.”

When things get tough, get closer to the Lord. Remain in the Word and remain in prayer and worship.

Prayer When You Feel To Give Up On God

Restoring Hope In Times Of Despair

Dear Heavenly Father, You who sees all things, You see my heart, my feelings, and my pain. In this moment, I confess that I feel to give up. The pressures of life, the constant battles, and the relentless tide of challenges have left me weary and disheartened. I come before You, God, in my raw honesty, asking for Your help.

Father, I know that You are close to the brokenhearted and You save those who are crushed in spirit. I surrender my despair to You and ask that You meet me in my brokenness. Grant me the strength to hold onto hope, even when I feel like letting go.

Psalm 42:11 Why, my soul, are you downcast? Why so disturbed within me? Put your hope in God, for I will yet praise him, my Savior and my God.

Matthew 11:28 Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.

Discouraged, Want To Give Up

Dear Lord, I feel alone and discouraged. Sometimes I even feel I want to give up on You. Things have been hard and they don’t seem to be getting any better. Heavenly Father, inflation, high prices, energy and food costs have me worried and very concerned. Every day, my income can purchase less than the day before.

But where do I go if I choose to give up on You Lord? No one else can satisfy the longing in my soul. No one can take your place. There is none upon the earth that I desire. Yes my flesh and my heart can fail me, but You oh Lord are my Strength and my portion forever.

Jeremiah 29:11. “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”

Psalms 73:25-26. Whom have I in heaven but You? And there is none upon earth that I desire besides You. My flesh and my heart fail; But God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.

Prayer To Renew Trust In God

Lord, when my heart is overwhelmed, lead me to the rock that is higher than I. You are my refuge and my fortress, my God in whom I trust. My doubts and fears may try to pull me away from You, but I choose to place my trust in You anew.

Despite the tears and frustration, help me to see Your hand at work in my life. Even when I don’t understand Your ways, let me trust in Your unfailing love and in Your promises that never fail.

Proverbs 3:5-6 Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.

Hebrews 13:6 So we say with confidence, ‘The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid. What can mere mortals do to me?’

Prayer For Perseverance And Resilience

Lord Jesus, in my weariness, I feel like I can’t continue. I pray for Your divine strength and resilience. You said in Your Word that those who hope in You will renew their strength, they will soar on wings like eagles, they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint. I ask for this renewing hope, Lord.

Instill in me a spirit of perseverance, to not grow weary in doing good, for at the proper time, I will reap a harvest if I do not give up. Lord, help me to keep my eyes on You, the pioneer and perfecter of faith.

Isaiah 40:31 But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.

Galatians 6:9 Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.

Prayer For Restoration Of Faith

Oh Heavenly Father, restore my faith in Your goodness. May I be reminded of Your faithfulness in the past and Your promises for the future. Let Your love that is unfailing and new every morning be my comfort.

I pray that the eyes of my heart may be enlightened to see the hope to which You have called me and the glorious riches of Your inheritance. For even when I am faithless, You remain faithful.

Lamentations 3:22-23 The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.

2 Timothy 2:13 If we are faithless, He remains faithful, for He cannot deny Himself.

Closing Prayer

Abba Father, my strength comes from You. I ask for Your divine touch, to revive my weary spirit and reignite the flame of faith within me. Like a deer pants for streams of water, may my soul thirst for You, the living God.

In the face of doubts and despair, let me remember that You are my shepherd, I shall not want. You make me lie down in green pastures, lead me beside still waters, and restore my soul. Though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for You are with me. Your rod and staff, they comfort me. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
