Prayer To Overcome Anger And Disappointment

One sign of a weak spirit is anger, being short-tempered. Anger destroys your peace and disconnects you spiritually from God. It drains your energy physically and spiritually. Would you describe yourself as having any of the following attributes?

• Short tempered, short fuse
• touchy, easily offended, overly sensitive
• out of control, anger, rage

Control your spirit. Don’t try to control others through sulking. When you don’t get your way, you sulk and cut everyone out. Allow yourself to be led and directed by the Holy Spirit, rather than the enemy. Become a blessing to others rather than a curse.

Proverbs 25:15 Patience and gentle talk can convince a ruler and overcome any problem.

Even at work, the Word of God has some advice for you. As it says in Ecclesiastes 10:4, If your boss is angry at you, don’t quit! A quiet spirit can overcome even great mistakes.

Prayer To Overcome Anger And Frustration

Heavenly Father, Your Word reminds me that you care for me. But Lord, I am but a mere human being, prone to emotional outbursts, rage, anger, frustration and moments of weakness.

Yet, I know that in you, I have the strength to overcome my weaknesses and to be victorious over my struggles.

Oh Lord, help me in overcoming anger and rage. I know that anger can be destructive, not only to myself but also to those around me.

Fill me with your peace and joy, so that I may be calm and patient, even in the face of difficult circumstances.

James 1:19 My dear brothers and sisters, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry.

Colossians 3:8 – But now you yourselves are to put off all these: anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy language out of your mouth.

My God, I know that anger can also lead me to sin, and I ask for your forgiveness for any wrong actions that may have resulted from my anger. Help me to control my thoughts and actions, so that I may avoid sin and instead, glorify you in all that I do.

Lord, I confess that there are times when my anger gets the better of me. Lord, I know this is not of you. In those moments, I pray for your mercy and grace, to forgive me and to help me get back on track.

Proverbs 15:18 A hot-tempered person stirs up conflict, but the one who is patient calms a quarrel.

Ephesians 4:26-27 In your anger do not sin: Do not let the sun go down while you are still angry, and do not give the devil a foothold.

Oh Lord, in my moments of disappointment, whether from unmet expectations or the actions of others, help me to cultivate understanding and compassion.

Remind me that we are all flawed, in need of grace, and that You often use our disappointments as opportunities for growth and character development.

I pray that you would give me the wisdom and discernment to avoid situations that may trigger my anger, and that you would strengthen me to resist the temptation to give in to my emotions. And so, I pray that you grant me the peace of mind that I will not allow others to get me angry.

I ask for your protection over my mind and heart, that I may not be consumed by anger or bitterness. Instead, may I be filled with your love and grace, so that I may extend that same love and grace to others. In Jesus glorious name I pray, Amen.

Proverbs 14:29 Whoever is patient has great understanding, but one who is quick-tempered displays folly.

Ephesians 4:31-32 Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice. Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.
