What is Holy Saturday? Holy Saturday, also called Easter Vigil, is the name given to the day between Good Friday, when Jesus was crucified on the cross, and Easter Sunday, when he rose triumphantly from the grave or tomb. Jesus paid the price for our sins.

Holy Saturday Prayer

Abba Father, on this Holy Saturday, we come before you with hearts full of hope and anticipation, knowing that tomorrow we will celebrate the resurrection of your Son, Jesus Christ. But on this day, we also remember the example that Jesus set for us during His time in the tomb.

Heavenly Father, the Lord Jesus before His death, though He was suffering and in excruciating pain, asked You to forgive His mockers and murderers.

What great love must the Lord have. Though they spat, mocked, stripped and whipped Him and crucified Him to death, he asked for them to be forgiven.

Matthew 6:14-15 For if you forgive others their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive others their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.

Taking Example From Jesus

Abba Father, on this Holy Saturday, we pray to take this example. We forgive and pray for our enemies, for all those who have hurt and broken us. Even those who have caused a death in our families and those who have damaged our lives and personalities.

Ephesians 4:31-32 Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, clamor and slander be put away from you, along with all malice. Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you.

Praying For A Compassionate Heart

Though the hurt is deep and its effect everlasting, we pray that we may forgive in the same way Jesus Christ forgave us and set us free from all our sins. The way He was compassionate, merciful and loving in all His pain, shame and suffering.

May His great love for us on the cross be embedded in our hearts and be the greatest memory of our Savior Lord Jesus, who is the Truth, The Way and The Life, now and eternal. Amen!

Romans 6:4 We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life.

1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

Amazing Grace (My Chains Are Gone)

Amazing grace
How sweet the sound
That saved a wretch like me
I once was lost,
but now I'm found
Was blind, but now I see

'Twas grace that taught my heart to fear
And grace my fears relieved
How precious did that grace appear
The hour I first believed

My chains are gone
I've been set free
My God, my Savior has ransomed me
And like a flood His mercy reigns
Unending love, amazing grace
