The secret place, as described in Psalm 91:1, is a place of safety, refuge, and protection. It is a place where we can find rest and peace in the midst of life’s storms. It is a place where we can draw near to God and experience His presence in a profound and life-changing way.

Psalms 91:1 He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.

But, what is this secret place, and how can we dwell in it? The secret place is not a physical location, but rather a spiritual reality. It is a state of being in which we are fully surrendered to God and completely dependent on Him for everything.

It is a place of intimacy and communion with God, where we can pour out our hearts before Him and receive His grace, mercy, and love.

Matthew 6:6 But you, when you pray, go into your room, and when you have shut your door, pray to your Father who is in the secret place; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you openly.

Going into the secret place means being alone with God. Alone doesn’t necessarily mean being alone in the room. It means quieting all outward noises in order to keep your mind clear of distractions and make time to fellowship with God.

A place where you speak to Him and He speaks back to you. Where you wait on God. You keep your mind focused on Him. It means setting aside time each day to read His Word, pray, and worship Him.

It means seeking His will for our lives and obeying His commands. It means trusting Him with every aspect of our lives, and allowing Him to guide us on the path of righteousness.

Dwelling in the secret place also means being mindful of our thoughts and actions. We must guard our hearts and minds against the things of this world, and instead focus our attention on God and His Word.

We must resist the temptations of the flesh and the lies of the enemy, and stand firm in our faith in Christ.

Sometimes, the noise and distraction is not just outward, but inward also. So you also have to shut the door of your thoughts, worries, self-condemnation and fears. Shut the door of thoughts of unpaid bills and pending assignments. Go into the secret place of aloneness with God. He is already there, waiting for You.

As we dwell in the secret place, we will experience the fullness of God’s love, grace, and power. We will find strength in our weakness, comfort in our sorrow, and hope in our trials. We will become more like Christ, and our lives will be a testimony to His goodness and His glory.

So, let us strive to dwell in the secret place, to abide in Christ, and to live our lives fully surrendered to God. May we be transformed by His Word and His Spirit, and, may our lives be a shining reflection, of His love and His grace.

Let Us Pray

Heavenly and Gracious Father, I long to dwell in the secret place, to find rest and peace in Your loving arms. I want to know You on a personal level. I want to be acquainted with Your ways. I want to be in sync with Your will.

Lord, I acknowledge my need for You. I confess my sins and ask for Your forgiveness. I surrender my life to You, and I ask that You would help me to fully depend on You for everything.

The Path To Intimacy

Gracious Father, what a privilege it is to be called Your child and to have access to Your holy presence. However, I confess that I often treat this incredible invitation casually, allowing the busyness of life and the clamor of earthly pursuits to drown out Your still, small voice.

Help me to prioritize our relationship, to set aside sacred time devoted solely to You – time for prayer, worship, and diving deep into Your Word. Lord, help me understand that dwelling in Your secret place is not a one-time event, but a constant journey towards intimacy with You.

May my heart echo the words of David: “One thing have I asked of the Lord, that will I seek after: that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life.” Lead me down the path that takes me closer to Your heart, making the secret place my home and not just a pit stop.

Psalms 27:4 One thing have I asked of the Lord, that will I seek after: that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to gaze upon the beauty of the Lord and to inquire in his temple.

Matthew 6:6 But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.

Living From The Secret Place

Omnipotent God, You are not confined to temples made by human hands; Your secret place can be carried in my heart as I go about my daily tasks. It is a wellspring of spiritual power, wisdom, and peace.

As I abide in You, may the choices I make, the words I speak, and the love I extend to others be influenced by the time I have spent in Your presence.

Father, the world is in desperate need of Your love and light. Help me live from the secret place, to bring Your kingdom to the situations and relationships I encounter each day. I want my life to be an open letter, testifying to the transformative power of dwelling in Your secret place.

Isaiah 26:3 You keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on You, because he trusts in You.

Colossians 3:3 For you have died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God.

Seeking Strength And Renewal

As I seek to dwell in the secret place, I pray that You would fill me with Your Holy Spirit. Give me the strength to resist temptation and to stand firm in my faith. Help me to be mindful of my thoughts and actions, and to focus my attention on You and Your Word.

I want to be renewed and transformed in my mind, that I may be like my Lord Jesus. So Father, help me to dwell in the secret place. Help me to remain in Your word and in prayer. Remove every distraction and every idol I have placed in Your place.

Isaiah 45:19 I have not spoken in secret, from somewhere in a land of darkness; I have not said to Jacob’s descendants, ‘Seek me in vain.’ I, the Lord, speak the truth; I declare what is right.

Psalms 16:11 You will show me the path of life; In Your presence is fullness of joy; At Your right hand are pleasures forevermore.

The Fullness Of Joy

Give me courage to seek You till I find You. For You did not call us to seek You in vain. Lord I want to dwell in the secret place where You are. I want to abide under the shadow of your wings. In Your presence there is safety. In your presence there is fullness of joy. At your right hand are pleasures forever more.

Lord, I ask that You would guide me on the path of righteousness. Show me Your will for my life, and help me to obey Your commands. May my life be a testimony to Your goodness and Your glory.

I thank You, Lord, for the promise of Your presence. I know that as I abide in Christ, I will experience the fullness of Your love, grace, and power. Help me to trust You with every aspect of my life, and to find my hope and my strength in You alone. In Jesus name I pray, Amen.
