Prayer When You Need To Ask God Why

In the face of an exceptional year that has swept the world with upheavals and shifts, it becomes essential to ask God, “Why?” The United States has wrestled with its fair share of demonstrations, protests, natural disasters, and man-made devastation.

Globally, cities from London, UK to Lahore, Pakistan, have been stirred by unusual displays of public dissent. Even in Thailand, brave young men and women rise against state oppression. This prayer is designed for those times when we are compelled to ask God for insight and direction.

In your own personal life, you have also had your questions for the Lord. Have you had to ask God: “Why, Lord”? Whether is pain, hurt, relationships, career, business, or just in your everyday working, sleeping, day to day life.

One of the reasons why testimonies are so powerful is because they remind us that though we know in part, and understand little of the present, our God sees the whole picture. And when we trust in Him, He works things out for our good in the long run. Are your thoughts and utterances like psalmist in Psalms 10?

Psalm 10:1-5 Why, O Lord, do you stand far away? Why do you hide yourself in times of trouble? In arrogance the wicked hotly pursue the poor; let them be caught in the schemes that they have devised. For the wicked boasts of the desires of his soul, and the one greedy for gain curses and renounces the Lord. In the pride of his face the wicked does not seek him; all his thoughts are, “There is no God.” His ways prosper at all times; your judgments are on high, out of his sight; as for all his foes, he puffs at them.

And he continues to cry in Psalm 10:1-7, “His mouth is filled with cursing and deceit and oppression; under his tongue are mischief and iniquity.“

Yes, you are not the only one who sometimes have questions. But don’t allow these questions to weaken your faith; trust in the Lord. Read the testimonials of others. Build your faith. Get your thoughts and heart in line with the Lord. And encourage yourself in the word and in prayer!

1 Corinthians 13:12 For now we see in a mirror dimly, but then face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I have been fully known.

Prayer When You Need To Ask God Why

Oh Sovereign Lord, the Alpha and Omega, the Beginning and the End, I kneel before You, my heart heavy with questions. My soul is restless, searching for answers in the midst of storms.

I am like a traveler lost in the wilderness, yearning for clarity amidst the confusion, longing for light amidst the darkness. Why, I ask, Oh Lord, why is this happening?

Lord, you hear the desires of the afflicted. You strengthen the heart of the weak. You bring justice to the oppressed.

Hebrews 11:6 And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.

Isaiah 55:8-9 For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, declares the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.

Plea for Understanding

So, I ask You, Father, in Your mercy, to grant me understanding. Help me to perceive Your divine purpose even amidst my trials. Even as Job, in the midst of his afflictions, sought answers from You, so do I cry out.

Yet, I am reminded that You answered Job out of the whirlwind, asserting Your divine wisdom and power. I acknowledge, Lord, that Your wisdom is supreme, and Your understanding is beyond measure.

Trusting in God’s Plan

Even when I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for You are with me. I am emboldened by Your word in Jeremiah 29:11, “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the LORD, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” I trust in Your plan, Oh Lord, even when the road is rocky and the way is unclear.

I Ask God Why

Oh Heavenly Father, I may not always understand Your ways, but I have faith in Your divine wisdom. I surrender my questions, my doubts, and my fears into Your loving hands.

I believe that You will guide me through this storm and lead me to still waters. In the midst of my questions, I choose to trust in You, to lean on You, and to rest in Your love.

Lord, I may not understand today, but may I always seek your face. May I always trust in your word. Let none turn me away from your truths.

Your ways are higher than my ways and your thoughts higher than mine. I trust you Lord, to lead me in the paths of righteousness, all the days of my life. In Jesus name, Amen!

James 1:5-6 If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you. But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt, because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind.
