Embracing Virtues of the Spirit

O Loving Father, creator of all that is good and righteous, in Your divine wisdom, You have bestowed upon us the ability to manifest love in multifaceted ways. Today, I long to embody two of the most beautiful aspects of Your love – kindness and gentleness.

Lord, I acknowledge that the world can sometimes be harsh, filled with challenges that can harden hearts. Yet, I also recognize that it’s in these moments that the qualities of kindness and gentleness are needed the most. I pray for the grace to consistently exhibit these virtues, not only in times of peace but especially amidst trials.

Lord Jesus, you lived a life characterized by unparalleled kindness and gentleness. Even when faced with hostility, Your response was one of unwavering love and calmness. Teach me, Lord, to walk in Your footsteps.

As I go about my daily life, may I become a vessel through which others experience the healing touch of kindness and the comforting embrace of gentleness. Grant me the patience to hold my tongue when I’m tempted to respond in anger. Give me the humility to offer kindness even when it’s undeserved.

Colossians 3:12 Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience.

2 Timothy 2:24-25 And the Lord’s servant must not be quarrelsome but must be kind to everyone, able to teach, not resentful. Opponents must be gently instructed, in the hope that God will grant them repentance leading them to a knowledge of the truth.

Teach Me Lord

Tender Jesus, so meek, so mild, teach me to be like You in all my ways. Teach me kindness, gentleness, generosity, and to be giving, forgiving, loving and caring.

Teach me to follow in Your humble footsteps. Guide me to the place You want me to be, take control. Mold and shape me into the brilliant being I was always destined to become.

Colossians 3:12 Since God chose you to be the holy people he loves, you must clothe yourselves with tenderhearted mercy, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience.

Cultivating Kindness from Within

Heavenly Father, true kindness springs from a heart that is attuned to Your will. It is not merely an external act, but a reflection of an inward transformation. Purify my heart, O God, and plant seeds of genuine love and compassion deep within me.

Let these seeds take root, flourishing into acts of kindness that radiate Your love to all those I encounter. Help me to see beyond the surface, recognizing the innate worth of every individual and treating them with the same care and respect that You bestow upon each of Your children.

Gentleness, Lord, is a quality often overlooked in a world that champions assertiveness and might. Yet, I believe that true strength is found in gentleness, a quiet force that can mend broken spirits and calm stormy hearts.

Lord, temper my actions and words with gentleness. When I’m faced with situations that test my patience or provoke anger, let gentleness be my default response, a testimony of Your spirit working within me.

Proverbs 15:1 A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger.

Galatians 5:22-23 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. Against such things there is no law.

Spreading Kindness and Gentleness in the World

Oh Lord, as I strive to embody kindness and gentleness, I pray for opportunities to manifest these virtues in tangible ways. May my actions serve as a beacon of hope to those who are weary, offering solace and encouragement.

Guide me to situations where a kind word or a gentle touch can make a difference, turning someone’s day around or perhaps even altering the course of their life. Moreover, Lord, let my commitment to kindness and gentleness inspire others to do the same.

Ephesians 4:32 Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.

1 Peter 3:15-16 But in your hearts revere Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect, keeping a clear conscience.

Prayer for Kindness

I shall cling to You when oceans rise and thunders roar, for You are my rock and strong tower, my comforter in my most vulnerable times.

Lord, the journey towards complete kindness and gentleness is a continuous one. Each day, I pray that I grow closer to these virtues, reflecting Your love more accurately in every interaction.

May the beauty of kindness and the power of gentleness be ever present in my life, serving as a testament to Your divine love. Jesus, intercede within my heart so that I would be kind and gentle to the people that surround me. In Your precious Name I pray, Amen!

Luke 6:35  But love your enemies, do good to them, and lend to them without expecting to get anything back. Then your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High, because he is kind to the ungrateful and wicked.

Ephesians 4:32 Instead, be kind to each other, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, just as God through Christ has forgiven you.

  2. “Gods Virtues”….. Love, Joy, Peace, Patience, Kindness, Goodness, Faithfulness, Gentleness, Self-Control, are of course nine Powerful Fruits of the Spirit and when we practice them they will guide us on a quest to help produce a Godly Character in us.. All of these Fruits point to God as a source of goodness in life, and also the necessity of doing good to others. This Prayer is very thoughtfully arranged and I enjoy reading it out loud.
