Inspiring Prayer For Controlling The Tongue
Simple but powerful. As simple as it may seem, the tongue has been the destruction of so many. With the tongue, you can uplift or curse, bless or condemn, praise or disgrace. It is important to keep it under control. Words once spoken, cannot be taken back.
So today, speak words of love, encouragement and joy to yourself and to others. Bless them and praise God rather than curse. And watch God’s blessings flow into your life.
Proverbs 18:21 Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruit.
Prayer To Control The Tongue
Heavenly Father, I admit the power that resides in the words I speak. I am aware that my tongue has the potential to bring forth life or death, to build up or to tear down. I plead with You, Lord, to create a guard for my mouth and a watch for the door of my lips.
Teach me to speak words that edify, words of truth, love, and encouragement that reflect Your heart, rather than words that wound or hinder.
Lord, let my speech always be gracious and seasoned with salt. Let me not utter reckless words, or engage in slander or gossip, but instead, help me to use my words to bring healing and peace.
Help me to listen more and speak less, to examine my words carefully before I utter them, and to choose silence when it is the best option.

Prayer for Grace in Speech and Silence
Gracious God, I seek Your grace not only in the words I speak but also in my silences. Help me to discern when to speak up and when to remain silent, understanding that both can be expressions of wisdom and love.
In my speech, let grace overflow, reflecting Your compassion and kindness. In my silence, let it be filled with prayer and contemplation, never with resentment or malice.
May every word I speak, or choose not to speak, bring honor to You. In times when I falter, I am grateful for Your grace that covers my shortcomings. Let my life, in words and in silences, be an ongoing testimony to Your transformative work within me.

Mighty God, I understand the powerful truth that life and death are in the power of the tongue. Help me to fully grasp this responsibility, and to use my words wisely, knowing the immense influence they wield.
May I speak life into my circumstances, into the lives of those around me, and even over myself. Let me pronounce blessings and not curses, and spread joy rather than sorrow with the words that I speak.
Oh Lord, I pray that You guide me to echo Your Word in all I say, and to affirm Your promises over my life.
Help me to declare faith, hope, and love, to reject negativity and despair, and to choose words that bring light in the midst of darkness. May I refrain from careless words and instead, use my tongue as an instrument of Your peace and grace.

Prayer For Bridling The Tongue
Almighty God, I pray for the strength to control my tongue, especially in times of anger, frustration, or stress. It is in these moments that words are often spoken in haste, words that can cause lasting damage.
Grant me the wisdom and self-control to hold my tongue in these situations, to breathe and pray before I respond.
I pray for the fruit of Your Spirit to manifest in my life – love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. Let these qualities guide my actions and my words.
May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be always pleasing in Your sight, O Lord, my rock and my redeemer.

Jehovah Shammah, let no evil befall me as I live my life serving You. Let any negativity spoken against me be destroyed in Jesus name, for I am covered and protected under the precious blood of the King.
Break that chain of negativity, Oh Lord my God. Allow me to not only speak words of wisdom, upliftment, healing and love towards others, but also, let my actions follow through. In Jesus’ mighty name I pray, Amen and Amen!

Thank you lord, this message was certainly a confirmation and directed to me. Because I’m struggling with the very said situation at this moment and no one knows anything but you my lord.. just last night I cried out to you and felt so much anger and abandonment and in the midst of the moment, a song popped into my spirit…which I have not even thought of in years… ” jesus loves me yes I know, for the bible tells me so.” Exactly like that those words popped into my spirit. I was baffled and cried to God to prove himself to me by showing me a sign, to let me know he’s real or just not a mental imaginary thing made up by all to have something to hold on to for hope and strength. But at the same time I know without a doubt that strange things have happened to me, in real and it was just after o spoke to God asking for his guidance or help.. even in my dreams he showed me things and they manifested the next day… all positive things.. one night after working late I literally felt like a friend held me by my elbow and in a cheerful happy manner told me let’s turn around and pass another way, a path that I had never passed when I came in, especially late at night. But happily I just turned around and passed and it was a longer distance to where I usually pass. I don’t know why I did it, but when i reached inside my area where the security was I saw a masked figure ran out from the said area I usually would pass and was five steps away from passing to pass the area that the friendly voice suggested which was about 50 steps away… I shuddered when I saw the masked person rushed out to the streets. That was certainly a miracle and I know it saved me from the plan of the enemy. That person was waiting right in the pathway of where I usually walk every day and night when I came home. Never had I ever passed where the voice told me to pass. And the voice said it like it was both of us, like it was a friend and I walking… it said let’s turn around and pass to the front.. this is the front of the garage door which opens to the streets and the other place where I usually pass was already in my building, but out the garage into the yard and then I turned the key to go into the building.. so I never thought or felt unsafe as I was already inside my building property..but my guardian angel averted me from the danger that awaited me by changing my path that night..it was late at night after a long days work.. maybe around midnight or after… I have had many strange situations as such even when I asked God for something or to move someone from disturbing me on my job. Within an hour that person just came in a packed their things and left.. no one had said anything to them or knew how I felt.. but at times I still feel abandoned and alone.. God please help my faith grow and speak to me as you used to do before. I’m scared, I’m confused. Please lord I need you, I need to hear from you… I’m hungry for you…

Hello Dear, Thank you for the wonderful site, prayers, and encouragement! If I may share some constructive feedback pls…. There is a old phrasing in many of the prayers, “Not only” (eg. Allow me to NOT only). Psychologically, the “not” inserts a negative in the idea both subconsciously & consciously despite good intentions. It is more impactful and positive to say for example “Allow me to speak words of wisdom, encouragement, life, healing & love towards others, and let my actions follow through.”
The phrase ‘not only’ can make the communication unnecessarily convoluted, without meaning to. Hope that makes sense. Thank you again for all your wonderful work – God bless you!!
