Pastor Nelson Sammy-Guilarte Passes Away

Yet Another prominent Caribbean Gospel minister has passed away. This time it is the 73 year old Pastor Nelson Sammy-Guilarte. Our condolences go out to his wife Pastor Maggie Sammy-Guilarte, his children Rodney and Andrae, and the family of Living Word Christian Center, in San Fernando, Trinidad and Tobago.

Pastor Victor Jogee said “My Pastor and Best Friend and A Great Servant of God, Apostle Nelson Sammy Guilarte has Graduated and gone Home to be with his Savior. A great loss to the World a Great Gain to Heaven .”

Recently, the region saw the passing of Dr. Holmes Williams, Pastor Apostle Bertril Baird, Pastor KK Bachew and Pastor Myles Munroe.

Just after midnight Sunday morning, Pastor Sammy complained of having difficulties breathing. He was rushed to the nearby Cross Crossing Medical. Doctors worked hard to revive him but at approximately three o’clock Sunday morning he was pronounced dead.

In September this year, Pastors Nelson and Maggie Sammy-Guilarte were honored by the local church and family for 50 years of ministry and 46 years of marriage.

Through his vision and dedication, Pastor Sammy, Senior Pastor and Founder at Living Word Christian Centre, was inspirational in bringing praise and worship to Trinidad and Tobago. He later opened the country’s first Christian Television station: ACTS25.

The Friday night program “Breakthrough to the Maximized Life” featured many ministers of God both locally and internationally, and received hundreds of prayer requests. There were also many testimonies of healing as the program touched the lives of many around the world.

And we leave you with one of his favorite songs: NOTHING IS IMPOSSIBLE! (17th January 1942 – 1st November 2015)

  1. Me and my Family from Mwanza Tanzania East Africa,

We join with all to prey for family on this time to make sure all things are covered with blood of Jesus.

  2. I was saddened at the news of the passing of this tremendous man of God, Nelson Sammy. He was one of the most pleasant, affable and compassionate saints I knew. He was focused, passionate and uncompromising in his faith in God, in his walk with Christ, in his ministry, and in his commitment to the word of God. We shared many moments on and off the air of our common love and burden for the lost, and also for his beloved country.

Condolences on behalf of my wife, Dr. Pat and myself to Pastor Maggie, to Rodney, Andrae and to the rest of the family and the Church. He will be missed, but I believe he will be cheering us on from his new vantage point in glory.
