It is critical to accept the fact that, not only is Jesus Christ the second person of the Godhead, but that He came to earth and lived in a human body. Some Christian denominations deny that God came in the flesh. That is to say, they believe that Jesus did indeed live, but are unclear as to whether He was indeed deity. Brothers and sisters, any doctrine that either questions, doubts, or denies that GOD (Lord of the Universe, Creator and Judge, the I AM, the timeless One) lived on the earth as Jesus the Christ is a DOCTRINE OF DEMONS!
We must recognize that Jesus Christ Our Lord became as one of us, which qualified Him to be the mediator between us and God the Father for several main reasons:
- He was Himself God so He could show us Himself in a way we could understand
- He was qualified to atone for the sins of mankind by being both a sinless HUMAN: to pay for the sins of humankind, and DIVINE: so that His death was enough to cover the sins from the dawn of mankind to the end of mankind.
- During His life, He humbled Himself before God the Father to show us obedience to God and relationship with God
- He was tempted in all areas as we were, yet without sin, so He is now able to empathize with our weaknesses and to show us mercy.
John 1:18 says: “No one has ever seen God, but the one and only Son, who is himself God and is in closest relationship with the Father, has made him known.”
Hebrews 4:14,15 state: “Therefore, since we have a great high priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession. For we do not have a high priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but One who has been tempted in all things as we are, yet without sin.”
and again, Hebrews 2:17,18 affirm: “For this reason he had to be made like them, fully human in every way, in order that he might become a merciful and faithful high priest in service to God, and that he might make atonement for the sins of the people. He is able to deal gently with those who are ignorant and are going astray, since he himself is subject to weakness.”
and finally, Hebrews 9:26-28…“but now, once at the end of the ages, He has appeared to put away sin by the sacrifice of Himself. And as it is appointed for men to die once, but after this the judgment, so Christ was offered once to bear the sins of many. To those who eagerly wait for Him He will appear a second time, apart from sin, for salvation.”
