I shared this with someone who could not focus (especially in prayer) and I’m sharing with you in the hope that it benefits you in some way. How to focus and achieve?
Honestly, I have my days when I focus only on my problems and I lose focus on the rest of the things I have to accomplish. But that’s our human nature and we learn, day by day, and we improve ourselves.
Basically, with good time management, priority and focus, things work out better in many ways. There’s a time for everything, a time for work, a time for relaxation, a time to reflect and time to pray, a time for solitude and a time for friends, a time to enjoy and a time to be regretful. And if we mix all this up in one go, we lose our focus.
For example, when you pray, set your mind to prayer. Quiet time prayer, in your own place or room, is best and allows you to hear what the Lord has to tell you. Invite the Lord Jesus as you start to pray. Let not the cares of the home and heart disturb you in the presence of the Lord. I would suggest you make this your first priority in the morning and your last before bedtime. Not necessary lengthy conversations, but it is welcomed if you have the time. Set your heart to focus on the Lord and you will find you can conquer anything the rest of the day has to offer.
And so the same applies when you are at work, just work and don’t let other matters bother you much. I have instances when family calls me at work and I tell them ‘no long stories’ just get to the point. And so for the rest of what we do.
We could have a long list of things to do for the day, and often, with proper time management, perspective, focus and priority, we can achieve almost everything we want to do in a day. You might feel pressed, you might feel stressed and in that moment, you only have to discard what’s not a priority. But focus, time management and perspective is truly important. You will find that as you set your focus on what is important at the time, you will achieve better results in all you do, without your mind wandering.
To end, I must say that daily prayer is truly important. It sets your heart and mind in the Lord and, honestly, you will walk away from evil and trouble. It doesn’t mean you don’t enjoy life. You can have the best of everything in the right perspective and the right mind towards all things and all people. The Lord’s little voice in you will tell you what is right and what is wrong and you will be walking away from the lures of evil and temptation.
God bless you!
