Devotional – You Never Know Who is Watching

I’ve always thought that it is important to live right. You just never know who is watching you, looking at how you handle life. They take you as their example and you’re quite unaware. As a child of God, your words and your deeds should match.

I haven’t always been able to do this. Sometimes, it’s a lot easier to talk the talk, than to walk the walk.

I thank God for always being there to guide me through and eventually directing me to make the right decisions. And even when I made bad decisions, His mercy and grace was there to catch me as I fell and put me back on my feet.

Wow! God blessed me with this!

Not very long ago, I was blessed by God in a really big material way. It was a moment in my life, a moment of ‘wow, God blessed me with this!’. I met a younger relative later that day and we went on and on about it. They were so happy for the blessing.

Later that same night, I received an email that really touched my heart to the deepest level. That same relative sent me an email just to say congratulations and that they were so proud of me. And, more importantly, that I have caused them to dream big!!!!

Live a life to be a good example

I really cannot put into words how I felt. I mean I always knew they would look up to me. But to hear this really made me realize that people always look for good examples to follow.

And it’s so important to live right and deal right with others, because you impact people’s lives and you don’t even know it.

The Bible tells us to live a good life so that we can be an example. Not for us (because the life we live is by God’s grace), but it is so that God can be glorified.

Matthew 5:16 – “In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven.”

1 Peter 2:12 “Live such good lives among the pagans that, though they accuse you of doing wrong, they may see your good deeds and glorify God on the day he visits us.”

You really never know who is watching you and looking up to you

You may not notice people watching you, looking to you for an example. But live right anyway. You really never know who is watching you and looking up to you.

Let it encourage you to live right. And let God’s word about being an example give you strength for those times you may fail. It will help you to keep living in His ways.

You may be the only Bible people read. You may just be the one that makes the difference in someone’s life and cause them to change and walk the right pathway. Live your life always pleasing to the Lord.

May the God of wisdom flood your life with light and understanding so that you can live to please Him, in all your ways, Amen.

  6. It is really true….some people may never pick up a Bible so you might be the only Bible they truly ever see, would it not be wonderful if they saw “Gods word” in you?. If others saw Jesus reflected off us it may encourage them to seek Him out themselves, it may encourage them to look inside a real Bible and find out more about Jesus…
