Psalms 23: The Lord is my Shepherd [to feed, guide, and shield me], I shall not lack. He makes me lie down in [fresh, tender] green pastures; He leads me beside the still and restful waters. He refreshes and restores my life (my self); He leads me in the paths of righteousness [uprightness and right standing with Him—not for my earning it, but] for His name’s sake.

This week, my Pastor preached a message that led to these verses of scripture. This was the one part that stood out for me. Verse two says that the Lord makes us lie down in a good place, and He leads us where it is still and restful.

For the last month, I have been struggling because I have not held on to this word. Do I know the scripture? I sure do! I learnt it when I was in Sunday School like many of us. But, in my time of struggle and trials, this was the Word that I needed. And I had forgotten about it.

Today, I truly thank God, not because the situation has changed, but because I have finally found the secret of being able to walk though a difficult place. It is to follow the Shepherd to that restful place in your spirit that, no matter how difficult the circumstances surrounding you are, He can give you perfect peace.

Isaiah 26:3 You keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in you…

May you find rest as you follow the leading of the Lord to that secret place, Amen.

  2. Almighty Father,
As long as we are with the world
Everyday would be some sort of trial
As we rest our hearts and minds with You
There’s surely a power that will us through
    Amen!
