The Love of Wealth
Wealth is not just what you own but what you did with the little you have. Some people go around doing a lot of worldly things for money. Yet, they are never contented. In fact they sometimes lose their life for wealth.
And then there are the contented ones. They may have very little but they use what they have to help others and make a difference in the lives of others. These are the people who I see as rich.
1 Timothy 6:10: For the love of money is the root of all evil. Which, while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.
1 Timothy 6:9 But those who want to get rich fall into temptation and a snare and many foolish and harmful desires which plunge men into ruin and destruction.
Whatever we accomplish in life is temporary. When we die, we leave everything here. So the real wealth we should aim for is the silver and gold in heaven. This wealth is permanent.
Matthew 6:19 “Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal.”
We all need money for survival but I disagree upon making it an idol. I love fancy things but I will work hard for what I want so that I can attain it the right way. It is so sad to see the way people are getting killed for their wealth.
My Personal Experience
The devil is so fast at work and money seems to be a weakness for many. I had a personal experience with wealth. At one time, I found myself caught up in having the best of everything.
But one day I fell ill and no amount of money could have save me. It was then I found Jesus, who became both my savior and my healer.
Proverbs 3:9 Honor the LORD from your wealth And from the first of all your produce;
I had made money my idol and God punished me to teach me a lesson. I used to be selfish and wanted everything for myself. But, because of my experience, I am now willing and free to give to others.
I will never make the mistake of loving money so much again because God gives and he can take away.
