Devotional ~ Because He first loved us
1 John 4:19 – We love Him because He first loved us.
Where is your focus? Do you try to work hard and serve the Lord so that He would show His Love to you? So you are slaving to do the Lord’s work, and yet there seems to be no difference… This verse tells it all. Change your focus. Today! As you meditate on the meaning of the verse, that while we were yet sinners, He loved us. He didn’t wait for us to change to demonstrate His love. And when you serve the Lord, serve Him because He loved you first, not to try to gain His love.
May the Lord be with you this blessed day. And as you go, may the angels of the Lord be with you, protecting and guiding you and your family. Amen.
Bible Verses About God’s Love for Us
For I, the Lord your God, hold your right hand; it is I who say to you, “Fear not, I am the one who helps you.”
1 John 4:10
In this is love, not that we have loved God but that he loved us and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.
1 John 4:19
We love because he first loved us.
Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or danger, or sword? As it is written, “For your sake we are being killed all the day long; we are regarded as sheep to be slaughtered.” No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.
But God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.
And to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.
The Lord appeared to him from far away. I have loved you with an everlasting love; therefore I have continued my faithfulness to you.
“Can a woman forget her nursing child, that she should have no compassion on the son of her womb? Even these may forget, yet I will not forget you.
1 John 3:1
See what kind of love the Father has given to us, that we should be called children of God; and so we are. The reason why the world does not know us is that it did not know him.
