Galatians 4:21 Tell me, ye that desire to be under the law, do ye not hear the law?

You can produce mighty works using the old Covenant System.  When I was in the deliverance Ministry, before I came to the revelation of grace, I used to counsel people through a series of confessions and repentance to break curses and to attain forgiveness of sin, before that person would be set free by the demonic.  The thinking was, sin somehow entitled Satan to enter a person’s Life, and therefore we believed the Demon had a right to be there and could not be cast out before breaking the permission.

We had great success, from witchdoctors to porn addictions; we cast out thousands of demons through this method.  There were only two problems.  First it took hours to counsel through all the issues of persons to find all the hidden permissions and break all the supposed curses.  Secondly, the freedom would never last, because many would come back weeks or even days later and they were back in the same condition, if not worse.

The reason was simple, we were using an old covenant method of deliverance, which was reliant on the person’s behaviour and ability to “clean up themselves,” rather on the work of Christ, which is fixed, unmovable and unchanging.  If a person gets free by repentance and breaking curses from Sin, then once they sin again, they would believe they had opened the door for these things to come right back in, and Satan would accommodate their faith.  Yet New Covenant Theology teaches us deliverance is through the Finished work of Jesus Christ, and that People have already been set free at the cross, we just declare liberty to the captives, the deliverance sticks, because it is based on Jesus Christ.

I’m reminded of the story of Abraham.  God gave Abraham the promise of a Son through his wife, Sarah.  He waivered at the promise and through the advice of his wife be did have a son, Ishmael, through the bondwoman, Hagar.   Thirteen years later, God reminded him of the Promise, and Abraham argued that Ishmael was already on the scene; couldn’t he just be the promise instead?  God reaffirms the promise, and Later Abraham and Sarah produce Isaac, the Child of Promise.  Abraham was later Justified by the Blood of Christ.

The Apostle Paul saw it fit to quote Sarah’s words to cast out the Bondwoman and her son, Ishmael.  This is a remarkable testimony to how we are to treat the Fruit we produce by our own efforts.  Not only do we throw out the methods used to produce results, but we also throw out all that we have produced by our own efforts.  In Other words, throw out the Old Covenant, and anything that you got by its use.  Our efforts to produce cannot be mixed with the inheritance we have in Christ.

Genesis 21:10 Wherefore she said unto Abraham, Cast out this bondwoman and her son: for the son of this bondwoman shall not be heir with my son, even with Isaac.

Both methods will produce results.  By our own efforts we can produce the appearance of a Holy Life, and Freedom from sin through behaviour modification and even deliverance from sickness and demons for a season, but it will never last, as it based upon our obedience and ability to live righteous.  It is far easier to believe in the finished work of Christ and What Jesus has done for us, and receive all things as inheritance by his Grace through faith.

  1. I have read a few of Mr. Potter articles and it is clearly twisting the message of grace.

    The Bible says:
Everyone who sins breaks the law; in fact, sin is lawlessness. But you know that he appeared so that he might take away our sins. And in him is no sin. No one who lives in him keeps on sinning. No one who continues to sin has either seen him or known him.

Dear children, do not let anyone lead you astray. The one who does what is right is righteous, just as he is righteous. The one who does what is sinful is of the devil, because the devil has been sinning from the beginning. The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the devil’s work. No one who is born of God will continue to sin, because God’s seed remains in them; they cannot go on sinning, because they have been born of God. This is how we know who the children of God are and who the children of the devil are: Anyone who does not do what is right is not God’s child, nor is anyone who does not love their brother and sister.

Old covenant or new covenant, sin is what satan does. When Jesus would set someone free He would tell them don’t sin again or go and sin no more. Is this what Mr. Potter is saying? Say you are righteous and go sleep with a girl with AIDS and see what happens. I think sickness will come in. Sickness is not from God. Mr. Stewart, read 2 Cor 12 to see what true repentance is.

I read somewhere that preacher are now saying Jesus was an old testament preacher and the Gospels are not for believers. I hope Mr. Potter is not in that class. I will read more of his articles but this one and the one on repentance – are totally filled with error. Mr. Potter I don’t want to be quick to judge – looking for more clarification on what you are saying.

Mr. Stewart I think I know your father – he was in Jamaica?

    1. BWAHAHAAAAAA! Hey Bro. 🙂
Obviously you haven’t read any of my articles, cause what you are accusing me of preaching isn’t what I’m preaching. But that’s alright, they accused Paul of preaching exactly what you’re accusing me of. Romans 6:1 – 2 ¶What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound? God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?

Its proof that I’m preaching Paul’s message. When you’re ready to learn, I’ll be glad to share some foundational truths with you also.

If my preaching doesn’t expose me to this misunderstanding, then I’m not preaching the Gospel.
Look out for my post on, Is Grace a License to sin.

  2. Romans 3:5 But if our unrighteousness brings out God's righteousness more clearly, what shall we say? That God is unjust in bringing his wrath on us? (I am using a human argument.)
Romans 3:8 Why not say–as we are being slanderously reported as saying and as some claim that we say–"Let us do evil that good may result"? Their condemnation is deserved.
Romans 5:20 The law was added so that the trespass might increase. But where sin increased, grace increased all the more,
Romans 6:15 What then? Shall we sin because we are not under law but under grace? By no means!

Genesis 18:25 Far be it from you to do such a thing–to kill the righteous with the wicked, treating the righteous and the wicked alike. Far be it from you! Will not the Judge of all the earth do right?"
Job 8:3 Does God pervert justice? Does the Almighty pervert what is right?
Romans 4:1 What then shall we say that Abraham, our forefather, discovered in this matter?
Romans 5:8 But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
Romans 6:1 What shall we say, then? Shall we go on sinning so that grace may increase?
Romans 6:19 I put this in human terms because you are weak in your natural selves. Just as you used to offer the parts of your body in slavery to impurity and to ever-increasing wickedness, so now offer them in slavery to righteousness leading to holiness.
Romans 7:7 What shall we say, then? Is the law sin? Certainly not! Indeed I would not have known what sin was except through the law. For I would not have known what coveting really was if the law had not said, "Do not covet."
Romans 8:31 What, then, shall we say in response to this? If God is for us, who can be against us?
Romans 9:14 What then shall we say? Is God unjust? Not at all!
Romans 9:30 What then shall we say? That the Gentiles, who did not pursue righteousness, have obtained it, a righteousness that is by faith;.
1 Corinthians 9:8 Do I say this merely from a human point of view? Doesn't the Law say the same thing?
1 Corinthians 15:32 If I fought wild beasts in Ephesus for merely human reasons, what have I gained? If the dead are not raised, "Let us eat and drink, for tomorrow we die."
2 Corinthians 6:4 Rather, as servants of God we commend ourselves in every way: in great endurance; in troubles, hardships and distresses;.
2 Corinthians 7:11 See what this godly sorrow has produced in you: what earnestness, what eagerness to clear yourselves, what indignation, what alarm, what longing, what concern, what readiness to see justice done. At every point you have proved yourselves to be innocent in this matter.
Galatians 2:18 If I rebuild what I destroyed, I prove that I am a lawbreaker.
Galatians 3:15 Brothers, let me take an example from everyday life. Just as no one can set aside or add to a human covenant that has been duly established, so it is in this case.

  3. << Romans 6 >>.
    New Living Translation.
    Sin’s Power Is Broken.

1Well then, should we keep on sinning so that God can show us more and more of his wonderful grace? 2Of course not! Since we have died to sin, how can we continue to live in it? 3Or have you forgotten that when we were joined with Christ Jesus in baptism, we joined him in his death? 4For we died and were buried with Christ by baptism. And just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glorious power of the Father, now we also may live new lives.

5Since we have been united with him in his death, we will also be raised to life as he was. 6We know that our old sinful selves were crucified with Christ so that sin might lose its power in our lives. We are no longer slaves to sin. 7For when we died with Christ we were set free from the power of sin. 8And since we died with Christ, we know we will also live with him. 9We are sure of this because Christ was raised from the dead, and he will never die again. Death no longer has any power over him. 10When he died, he died once to break the power of sin. But now that he lives, he lives for the glory of God. 11So you also should consider yourselves to be dead to the power of sin and alive to God through Christ Jesus.

12Do not let sin control the way you live;a do not give in to sinful desires. 13Do not let any part of your body become an instrument of evil to serve sin. Instead, give yourselves completely to God, for you were dead, but now you have new life. So use your whole body as an instrument to do what is right for the glory of God. 14Sin is no longer your master, for you no longer live under the requirements of the law. Instead, you live under the freedom of God’s grace.

15Well then, since God’s grace has set us free from the law, does that mean we can go on sinning? Of course not! 16Don’t you realize that you become the slave of whatever you choose to obey? You can be a slave to sin, which leads to death, or you can choose to obey God, which leads to righteous living. 17Thank God! Once you were slaves of sin, but now you wholeheartedly obey this teaching we have given you. 18Now you are free from your slavery to sin, and you have become slaves to righteous living.

19Because of the weakness of your human nature, I am using the illustration of slavery to help you understand all this. Previously, you let yourselves be slaves to impurity and lawlessness, which led ever deeper into sin. Now you must give yourselves to be slaves to righteous living so that you will become holy.

20When you were slaves to sin, you were free from the obligation to do right. 21And what was the result? You are now ashamed of the things you used to do, things that end in eternal doom. 22But now you are free from the power of sin and have become slaves of God. Now you do those things that lead to holiness and result in eternal life. 23For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord.

WHAT IS WRONG WITH OUR WORLD AND THE SO CALL CHURCH WORLD TODAY, THEY THINK SINCE WE NOT UNDER THAT OT LAWS WE DON'T HAVE TO KEEP THE OT COVENANT, THE DEVIL IS A LIAR AND TRUTH NOT IN HIM. THIS IS WHY THERE IS NO POWER, ALWAYS TRYING TO SEPARATE THE OLD FROM THE NEW. THEY ARE GOD WORD, IF HE DIDN'T WANT US TO UNDERSTAND WHAT TOOK PLACE IN THE OLD IN WHICH THEY WAS NOT ABLE TO KEEP THE LAWS BECAUSE OF THE NATURE OF SIN GOD GAVE US JESUS TO DESTROY THE NATURE OF SIN IN OUR MOTOR BODIES.

    1. We are No longer under the Law of Moses, we are Under the Law of Life in Christ (Romans 8:2) or what is called the Royal law. The Law of Moses and the Law of Life cannot be mixed..

Romans 8:2  For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.

  4. TRULY UNDERSTAND SOME WHAT IS SAID, AND SOME I AM NOT IN AGREEMENT AS TO ALL IS SAID. REASON WHY, THE OT IS STILL GOD WORD AND IT BUILDS US UP AS WELL AS KNOWING GRACE IN CHRIST JESUS BLOOD. I DON'T BELIEVING AS WE UNDER THE OT COVENANT AS TO CHRIST WORK ON THE CROSS. I'M FOR ALL THAT WHAT CHRIST HAS DONE FOR US IN GIVING US BACK WHICH WAS TAKING FROM US. WHICH WAS ABLE TO KEEP THE WORD OF GOD, HIS LAWS, COMMANDMENTS AS TO NOT THROWING HIS OT AWAY. WE NOT SAVED BY WORKS, NO NOT THAT ANY MAN SHELL BOST OF HIS WORKS, BUT BY THE GRACE OF GOD. THIS DON'T GIVE US ANY REASON NOT TO KEEP GOD LAWS AS TO KEEPING HIS COMMANDMENTS, HE DID NOT COME TO CONDOM THE LAW BUT TO FULFILL THE LAW, IN THAT WE WAS NOT ABLE TO KEEP THE LAW IN THE FLESH BUT THROUGH CHRIST WORK ON THE CROSS WE ARE ABLE TO KEEP HIS WORD. EVEN ALL THROUGHOUT THE NT, LET US KNOW IN TAKING OFF THE OLD MAN AND PUTTING ON THE NEW, SHELL WE CONTINUE IN SIN WHERE GRACE ABOUNDS? NO, WE ARE NOT. THE POWER OF THE HOLY SPIRIT IN POWER US TO LIVE BEFORE GOD AND IN LIVING RIGHT BEFORE HIM IS KEEPING HIS WORD, FROM OLD OR NEW TEST.

Romans 7:7 What shall we say, then? Is the law sin? Certainly not! Indeed I would not have known what sin was except through the law. For I would not have known what coveting really was if the law had not said, "Do not covet."

Romans 3:20 Therefore no one will be declared righteous in his sight by observing the law; rather, through the law we become conscious of sin.
Romans 4:15 because law brings wrath. And where there is no law there is no transgression.
Romans 5:20 The law was added so that the trespass might increase. But where sin increased, grace increased all the more,
Romans 7:5 For when we were controlled by the sinful nature, the sinful passions aroused by the law were at work in our bodies, so that we bore fruit for death.
Hebrews 7:19 (for the law made nothing perfect), and a better hope is introduced, by which we draw near to God.

    1. Nothing in those verses say we are to keep the Law. In fact Romans 7 goes on to say we are dead to the Law of Moses. All of those verses say the same thing, we are Dead to the law that we can be Joined to Christ.

Romans 7:4  Wherefore, my brethren, ye also are become dead to the law by the body of Christ; that ye should be married to another, even to him who is raised from the dead, that we should bring forth fruit unto God.
5  For when we were in the flesh, the motions of sins, which were by the law, did work in our members to bring forth fruit unto death.
6  But now we are delivered from the law, that being dead wherein we were held; that we should serve in newness of spirit, and not in the oldness of the letter.

    1. Repentance is a Fruit of Salvation, not the Price tag to get it. If you repent to be forgiven, then you are living under the Law. If you Repent because you are forgiven, then you are living under grace.
