The Value of Prayer
As true born-again believers, we should always try to begin the day in prayer because prayer is essential to the life of a true believer. Without prayer, we are not going to be in harmony with God’s precious Holy Spirit and will be closed off to what He is speaking to us in this hour. The value of being in prayer is knowing God’s desire to reveal hidden and secret things to us, His children.
1 Thessalonians 5:17 …Continually be prayerful.
Prayer is Communication
Communication is two ways. On our part, we have to plug in, God is the power source; the life source. How is it possible to have an even exchange of communication if there is no talking between two parties? God is always trying to get our attention, longing to speak to us but are we always ready to listen? Do we sincerely take the time to communicate with Him? God is not looking for eloquent speakers, if that was the case, He would only require the gifted to speak and pray.
Set Time For Prayer
The Word of the Living God admonishes us the importance or value of prayer and the benefits of it. We know one such benefit is answered prayer. Ask and it shall be given to you , seek and ye shall find, knock and the door will be open ( Luke 11:9 ). Sometimes we make commitments to a certain time to meet God in prayer and then become distracted, or all together taken away from prayer because of the cares of life. I extol you, my brother and sisters, ye followers of Jesus Christ, the risen Messiah, let this exaltation be a reminder that the Lord rewards continuity, a continuous flowing in our prayer of devotion with Him. Set a time apart and at your best, keep it.
Ephesians 6:18 And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the saints.
We are to be praying to God with all kinds of prayers, making all our requests known, praying for all the saints. The Living God desires to commune with us. When we find ourselves doing this, we have less time for gossip and have better discernment when we are presented with gossip. Yes, I will say this, till Jesus come, Do Not Waste Time In Gossip! Cut it off quickly. The Bible instructs us to deal frankly with our brother/sister least we share in his sin ( Leviticus 19:17 ). If we love our brother/sister, we would not want to see them walking around in darkness, let alone we ourselves walking in darkness with them (1 John 2:11 ). Although the tongue is the hardest member to tame, it does not negate the fact that we can have control over our tongue. Beloved, we must tame the tongue and watch what comes out of the mouth.
Philippians 4:8 And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise.
Hindrances to Prayer
There some hindrances to prayer and while you may think this is not such a big deal, think again, because the Word has a lot to say on this matter; sowing discord (casting seeds of strife) among the body of Christ is a BIG issue. We are to walk in forgiveness , 70 times 7 a day, we are to forgive. A gossiper is a tale-bearer. A messenger of Satan sowing discord among the brethren. Who can trust him/her? We as true believers should not allow such a one to pollute us or we ourselves will be polluting someone’s spirit with our garbage. A title does not give one a right to gossip. Leaders should be setting the prime example just as Jesus Christ did. If mistakes are made, then being a good leader, one should expose and correct openly by being the Godly example. NO TIME FOR GOSSIP. Gossip is a bait that Satan uses to bring rebellion and discord. Don’t fall for it or allow it to be embedded into your heart, mind and Holy Spirit. Don’t allow Satan to use you as his messenger. Be the true messenger of Jesus Christ, whom you are called to be. The word tells us to think on things that are lovely and that have virtue and praise. Against this is no sin. The value of our prayer is communication with God, Him speaking back to us and seeing the benefit of unhindered answered prayer!
“Love it. Very thought-provoking. I love praying the scriptures, and I will use this book, along with Kenneth Boa’s Handbook to prayer, for many years to come, God willing, and should Jesus not tarry or take me home. ….” Susan Castro.
